4 Awesome Games You Can Only Play On Apple Devices

The iPhone ushered in the era of mobile gaming, bringing its users the opportunity to play console-style games in the palms of their hands. It created an entirely new experience for gamers ranging from casual to hard-core. No waiting to get home to play; everyone could play at any time. For a while, Apple had an air of exclusivity when it came to games in the App store until Android came along. Even more recently, though, there are still many games that are only found on Apple due to developers focusing on the iOS platform for development. Following are four awesome games only available on Apple devices.

Infinity Blade III

This is a beautifully rendered role-playing game that takes advantage of the iPhone's computing power. The game looks the same as if it were on a desktop computer or a game system, immersing players into the geography as they explore the landscape. It runs on the Unreal game engine, something that was unheard of at one point. Its gameplay fully utilizes the functionality of the iPhone 6 Plus by letting users touch the screen to move and swipe to swing a sword at a monster. Few games incorporate the swipe feature as successfully as Infinity Blade III.

More good news is that Infinity Blade III is now free to play. There are in-game purchases that enable users to buy items as they need them, but it's still possible to get from start to finish in the game for those who prefer not to pay. The purchases are a way to support the game developers and encourage them to create more iOS-only content.

Oceanhorn

Here is the closest thing iOS has to The Legend of Zelda. Oceanhorn has been around for a few years, but it's received regular updates to keep the content fresh. The game itself has the classic elements of dungeon exploration, fighting monsters, and finding coins via throwing pots and cutting bushes. Players move between locations using a sailboat, similar to Nintendo's Wind Walker. The game has plenty of content to keep players occupied.

It's estimated that there are over nine hours of gameplay when combining the main storyline and extras. Those who just have to play every last element of the game and get all quests have about 15 hours of gameplay ahead of them. Take into consideration the fact that mobile gaming means frequent breaks in order to focus on other things, and the game lasts a lot longer than the straight-through game play estimates. Oceanhorn satisfies the need to play a Nintendo-style game on iOS.

Papa Sangre II

This game has a unique twist: there are no graphics. A black screen is the only thing the player sees. It's all part of a unique storyline that revolves around the player being dead and trying to find his or her way back to life. The game is narrated by Sean Bean, an actor well-known for his inability to stay alive for very long in a majority of the movie roles he's played.

The game requires the use of headphones. Players need to sharpen their hearing so they can tell what's going on where and when. Movement consists of tapping fingers on either side of the screen in a walking pattern. Essentially, players walk their way back to life while reacting to challenges along the way.

Disney Crossy Road

This game is basically an updated version of Frogger with Disney and Pixar characters. However, that doesn't mean Disney Crossy Road isn't fun; it's quite the opposite. Players have to get their character across the street without it getting run over, and do so in a multitude of universes. The 8-bit graphics remind the player of video games of yesteryear, but the rewards and endless play mean no one's putting it down anytime soon.

These are just four of the most awesome games that are exclusive to Apple devices. There's plenty more in the App store, but these games will keep players occupied for quite a while before they go looking for more.
