How To Delete Your Twitter History

If you want to delete your Twitter history you may feel like you’re up against a wall because you just can’t figure out how to do this.  There are many reasons why you’d want to do this like maybe you’re in a new relationship and you don’t want your old tweets to an ex to be seen.  Perhaps you are applying for a job and some of your old tweets would get in the way of being hired.  So now you’re stuck and you want to delete your history but how do you go about this?  Below are the steps you can take to delete your Twitter history.

Deleting Tweets

You need to log into your account and then go to your landing or home page.  This is where you can see your profile and where everything you’ve tweeted and all of the retweets and comments are.  In order to delete these you need to do it one at a time.  Yes, this can be time consuming but it’s the most effective way to ensure that all of your history has been removed from your feed.  It is easier to do this from a computer rather than from a mobile device like a smart phone or a tablet.  Hover over each post and then click the delete button when it pops up.

Deleting Direct Messages

You can use the same method for removing direct messages that you used to delete tweets.  You just need to hover your mouse over each message and delete it manually.  You don’t have to delete all your direct messages if you only have a few questionable ones as there is no limit on the amount of them you can have.  Just delete the messages you want removed and you’re done.

Software That Does the Work for You

If spending all that time manually deleting each and every tweet and direct message doesn’t appeal to you then you can use a couple of different software choices to them en masse.  To delete your feed history you need to have TwitWipe.  All you have to do is go to their website, verify your account and click on TwitWipe this account.  In just a few seconds your entire history is gone.

To delete your direct messages you need to have DM Whacker.  Now, there are a few more steps when using this site and it’s not as easy as TwitWipe.  First, you must be signed into the old version of Twitter.  You can do this by clicking on your name and then switch to old Twitter.  Visit the DM Whacker website and save it to your favorites and then open your direct messages.  With your messages open click on the DM Whacker in your bookmarks and your messages are erased.

There are many reasons why you would want to delete your Twitter history but there are ways to remove posts from your feed.  You can delete your entire history with either TwitWipe or your messages through DM Whacker.  If you don’t care to use either method you can wipe out your history by deleting each tweet at a time.
