Apple unveils iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max — the most powerful Pro lineup ever

Apple introduced iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, featuring a bold new design, Apple’s most advanced A19 Pro chip, and breakthrough camera and video capabilities. With a laser-welded vapor chamber inside a lightweight aerospace-grade aluminum unibody, the new Pro models deliver dramatically higher sustained performance, improved thermal efficiency, and the best battery life ever in an iPhone.

Both models feature three 48MP Fusion cameras — Main, Ultra Wide, and a new Telephoto — for the equivalent of eight pro lenses, including the longest optical zoom on iPhone yet at 8x. An all-new 18MP Center Stage front camera introduces a wider field of view, AI-driven group framing, and Dual Capture for recording with front and rear cameras at the same time. For filmmakers, iPhone 17 Pro adds industry-first features like ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock support, making it a powerful tool for both large-scale productions and creators on the go.

The Super Retina XDR display is available in 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch sizes with ProMotion up to 120Hz, 3000 nits peak outdoor brightness, Always-On functionality, and improved contrast. The display is protected by Ceramic Shield 2 with 3x better scratch resistance and reduced glare, while Ceramic Shield now also protects the back, providing 4x better crack resistance than previous models.

A19 Pro, paired with the new vapor chamber, delivers up to 40 percent better sustained performance than the previous generation. Its 6-core CPU is the fastest in any smartphone, while a next-gen 6-core GPU with built-in Neural Accelerators enables advanced on-device AI, console-quality gaming, and hardware-accelerated ray tracing. With iOS 26, the new Adaptive Power Mode and larger batteries extend video playback up to 39 hours on iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Both models are eSIM-ready worldwide, with eSIM-only versions available in select markets, offering greater security, convenience, and space savings for an even larger battery. iOS 26 also brings Apple Intelligence, Live Translation, new personalization features, and a redesigned interface, making iPhone smarter and more expressive than ever.

iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max come in three new finishes — deep blue, cosmic orange, and silver. iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099 (U.S.) with storage options up to 1TB, while iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at $1,199 (U.S.) with storage options up to 2TB. Pre-orders open Friday, September 12, with availability beginning Friday, September 19.
